SureFire designed the XR1 to be compact for concealed carriers. However, its small size still delivers 600 lumens out to 80 yards. Additionally, SureFire’s MaxVision Beam technology ensures a smooth, rounded beam that is optimized for the human eye. It also offers plenty of surround light for ideal situational awareness.
The XR1 features a Mil-Spec hard-anodized aerospace aluminum body that’s durable, but weighs a mere 2.2 ounces. Additionally, this rail mounted light features four points of contact. This provides an added measure of redundancy and security, for ensuring it stays where its placed.
However, the most interesting feature computer-style magnetic recharging port. In fact, the XR1 comes with a rechargeable battery that doesn’t require removing it from the gun to be recharged. Users simply set the unit on the magnetic port, which recharges the light when not in use.
Additionally, the XR1 has a nearly identical footprint to the SureFire XC2 weapon light. This means that it should fit in the same holster.
Unfortunately, SureFire has not announced pricing for this unit. However, it should run close to the price of the XC2, which costs $449, especially since technology advances typically bring down prices. Regardless of price, though, this unit continues SureFire’s importance in the self-defense and tactical markets. Light is important, and SureFire provides a lot of options for illumination.
