Shooters have long had a love affair with .22s. Whether talking about rifles or handguns, guns chambered in .22 LR are affordable, easy to shoot and a whole lot of fun. Now, the ante has been upped by the Taurus TX22.
Taurus designed the TX22 from the ground up to maximize fit, function and comfort for all shooters. In fact, the TX22 is a full-size polymer handgun that provides competition-level performance at an affordable price. Taurus integrated a human factor into every aspect of the TX22, allowing ergonomics to set the design parameters. As such, the company has brought out a striker-fired .22 that is both comfortable and functional for shooters of all levels.
Taurus TX22 Features
Now the TX22 boasts many features of larger-caliber handguns, but in the popular .22 LR chambering. These features include a single-action-only striker-fire system and a 5-pound trigger pull with a short trigger reset that is both tactile and audible. Additionally, the gun comes with proprietary grip texturing for a secure grip. When combined with the optimized slide weight for minimal recoil, all this provides extremely fast follow-up shots.
However, these features are only the start. This pistol also comes with three-dot sights, suppressor-ready muzzle threading an integrated accessory rail and two 16-round magazines; 10-round magazines are available where required. It even comes with fully adjustable rear sights and a reversible magazine release to fit all shooters.
Now Taurus designed everything about the gun for comfort and ease of use. In fact, the company wants shooters of all levels to enjoy shooting this gun. As such, Taurus considered safety for new shooters, while remembering experienced shooters. Select models come with an ambidextrous manual safety. However, all TX22 pistols come with a hidden trigger safety that prevents unintentional rear movement of the trigger. This new design eliminates the conventional safety blade that protrudes from the trigger. It also comes with a firing pin block that keeps the pin from striking the round unless the trigger is pulled.
So basically, the TX22 shoots like full-size pistols that has been tuned for competition, but at a price that fits budgets. This is a far cry from .22s that are just scaled-down versions of larger guns with less features, and could very well allow more folks to try competition shooting.
