This new compact/subcompact pistol comes with many of the same features as the full size. This one, of course, is smaller and lighter for concealed carry. In fact, at just over 6.5 inches in length and 22 ounces in weight, this pistol is just about the ideal size for everyday carry.
The Security-9 Compact comes with two, 9mm, 10-round, flush-fit steel magazines. The flush fit provides for greater concealability. Also included is one finger grip extension floorplate for added control. However, shooters can also pick larger, 15-round magazines.
Ruger constructed this pistol around a rigid, precision-machined, hard-coat anodized aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails and a blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel. This makes it almost identical to the full size. However, the pistol also features eye-catching sights, a textured grip frame and an easy-to-rack slide.
The Security-9 Compact also features the same Secure Action used in the LCP II. This action was derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP fire control system. The Secure Action provides the smooth trigger pull of the LCP with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single-action.
This Ruger also comes with an integrated trigger safety, external manual safety, neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension, and a hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. And it also comes with a very attractive price.
