In the ever-expanding optics ready, EDC concealed carry market, Springfield Armory is delivering. As an example, the XD-S Mod.2 OSP lineup of CCW pistols from Springfield sees two new variants. The new variants offer a big-bore option in .45 ACP and a longer 9mm, for increased sight radius.
Springfield XD-S Mod.2 OSP .45 and 9mm Variants
Built on the polymer frame, familiar to the XD-S line, both pistols deliver tough, reliable and powerful personal defense. Likewise, both pistols maintain the concealability and compact size of the XD-S line by maintaining a single-stack design. By building on XD-S design features, both pistols additionally continue the tradition of point and shoot ergonomics.
The 3.3-inch .45 ACP delivers heavy-hitting big-bore power, five- to six-rounds per reload, with the included flush-fit, five round magazine and extended six-round magazine with grip extension. Whereas the 4-inch 9mm comes with one flush-fit, seven-round magazine and one extended nine-round magazine with grip extension.
Following the XD-S tradition, both pistols are striker-fired and feature passive grip safeties. Similarly, the two new variations include a factory-milled slide for low-profile, direct mounting of compact optics. As a result, both will accept the smallest, most popular micro red dots on the market. However, for an additional fee you can order yours with a Crimson Trace micro red dot already installed.
With direct mounting of the optic, the pistols situate optics low enough to allow utilization of the iron sights. The included iron sights are made up of a white dot front sight and anti-glare, serrated U-notch rear sight. Correspondingly, the longer 4-inch barrel of the 9mm variant offers an increased sight radius while using the iron sights.
