Ruff Tuff Special Ops Seat Covers.
 Comment(s)

There are only two ways to keep your vehicle clutter-free. Keep it empty or keep it organized. Today we are going to discuss options for keeping it organized. Between having three kids and teaching classes, I have had to experiment to find gear that would suit my needs. For this reason, I have kitted out my last and current vehicle in a way that works best for me. One thing has remained consistent, I tend to steer more towards tactical vehicle storage options.

5 Tactical Vehicle Storage Products for Your Travels

Not everyone wants a rolling bug-out bag like I do. Or maybe everyone does. I don’t really know. But I’m going to throw out some options for our readers, from some respected companies that make really solid gear.

Some of these companies offer different options and levels of customization to fit your lifestyle, personal style, and budget. And budgeting is important, as kitting out your ride with tactical vehicle storage can get expensive, really fast.

Tactical Tailor MSM Vehicle Visor Panel

Tactical Tailor MSM Vehicle Visor Panel for tactical vehicle storage on your visor.

Let’s start at the top. Considering this is the interior of the vehicle, we’ll begin with the visor.

Milspec Monkey has partnered with Tactical Tailor to cover us in this department and for just around $40. If you want a cool cover to hold your insurance card/ID, patches, pens, sunglasses, knives, and anything lightweight and MOLLE compatible, this is for you.

And if you are wondering if these will fit your visor, they come in two sizes small and large.

Made in the USA by Tactical Tailor.

Approx. Sizes, Not Counting Side Elastic:

  • Small 10.75″ x 5.5″ tested on visor around 9.5″ post to post
  • Large 12″ x 6.25″ tested on visor around 12″ post to post

Ruff Tuff Special Ops Seat Covers

Ruff Tuff Special Ops Seat Covers.

I have had tacti-cool seat covers in two of my personal vehicles, and they absolutely come in handy.

I have CoverKing covers in my current Jeep Grand Cherokee. While I love them, my biggest complaint is that the Coyote Tan tends to get dirty and stained fairly quickly. So, I have to throw them into the washer often.

I’ve noticed that RUFF TUFF offers 21 different camo patterns from Kryptek to digital camo. So, they SHOULD stay clean looking longer. If camo is not your flavor, you can also get the seat covers in plain Dura EZ care fabrics. RUFF TUFF has me thinking that it may be time for an upgrade.

The name Special OPS means Outdoor Pocket System, and that is pretty cool. When it comes to tactical vehicle storage, you can never have enough pockets. From crossbows to fishing rods to firearms, Ruff Tuff has you covered.

Some of their pockets are tall enough to accommodate most soft gun cases, allowing transport of a firearm in a case, as required by some local and state laws.

Each side also has two convenient pockets with Velcro flaps, and three rows of MOLLE webbing to accommodate aftermarket pockets and accessories. Above the MOLLE webbing is another NEW FEATURE: A 2-inch strip of Velcro (loop side only) for attaching patches or other items using hook fastening panels.

The Special OPS™ Package is available for front seats in most vehicles, except UTVs. However, it cannot be combined with optional rear fabric pockets.

MSRP: Varies per vehicle. For more information, please visit RuffTuff.com.

221b Tactical Car Seat Organizer

221b Tactical Car Seat Organizer.

If you don’t want full seat covers but want a bit of storage that has pockets and some MOLLE webbing, then look no further than the 221B Tactical Car Seat Organizer.

In addition to pouches, pockets, and a clear ID cardholder, it has two large side pockets to hold some pretty big, tasty beverage bottles. This thing is a good size and offers more than ample storage for the average person. And, if you live in an area where you are concerned about someone breaking your car window to steal your gear, you can just take it inside with you at night.

This portable office has a strap that goes over the top of your headrest and a lower strap that goes around the body of the seat, to keep it stable. It even has a pull tab that can quickly rip open an inside pocket with a Velcro enclosure. The pocket is large enough to fit a holster with Velcro hook backing.

If you are on the road for your job/career, your vehicle is most likely your office. And in order to operate at maximum efficiency, you must be organized. However, let’s face it, most vehicles are not designed to be mobile offices. That’s precisely the thinking behind the development of the Harlej Vehicle Seat Organizer Bag.

When you and all your stuff are organized, you’ll be less stressed, more productive, and in an overall better mood.

Alien Gear Holsters ShapeShift Driver Defense Holster

Alien Gear Holsters ShapeShift Driver Defense Holster.

I don’t know anyone that finds a holster comfortable after driving around for hours. Sure, you can get used to your favorite holster, but it’s not generally comfortable.  There are those who say they are used to it and can draw their concealed weapon with a seatbelt on. However, there are those who can’t, especially the bigger guys.

Traveling or sitting down for long periods can be uncomfortable and restrictive when carrying. To avoid discomfort, many carriers will set their firearm in their center console or in the glove box. These inaccessible locations can compromise safety with the unpredictability of travel.

For those who are pro-car holster, this is the best one that I found. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion. Alien Gear Holsters have a legion of gun folk that will swear on their firstborn that they make the most comfortable Kydex holster. I am not sure that I can argue that, but if you like Alien Gear, the ShapeShift is the way to go.

Somewhat like the old BLACKHAWK! SERPA system, you can disconnect your holster with a twist, turn or press of a quick release and then attach it to a different mount. The Driver Defense Holster mounts under your steering wheel and between your legs, which makes the most sense to me.

The Driver Defense Holster has two highly adjustable nylon straps that attach to most vehicle seats. The straps thread through the back, wrap underneath and buckle at the front of your car seat. When you sit down to drive, the holster is secured between your knees in the most accessible position.

Features:

  • Fastens to your seat without tools, hardware, or drilling
  • Adjustable design accommodates a wide variety of vehicle seats
  • Quick, convenient access to your firearm

MSRP: $69.88. For more information, please visit AlienHolsters.com.
