If you have ever seen the HAKA dance, performed by Māori warriors, it is intimidating, to say the least. The New Zealand Champion National Rugby Club performs the dance with reverence before every game. Completing a two-part series, SK Customs releases the HAKA to round out the series started by the MANA.
SK Customs Releases the HAKA 1911
Starting with a full-size COLT Classic 1911 Series 70, and chambered in .38 Super, the slide and frame are both constructed of high polish stainless steel. As a result, the intricate engraving and gold plating are set off in amazing detail. Likewise, SK’s newest Super Bright Ivory polymer grips further illustrate the theme with Polynesian tribal art depicting a Māori warrior.
The right side of the slide features various Polynesian tribal symbolism, leading to two Māori warriors performing HAKA. Just rear of the cocking serrations is a panel featuring the serial number, between 001 and 200, of each pistol.
The left side of the slide features the same scroll and leaf work as seen on the right side. However, the left side focuses on a Māori warrior’s face with wide eyes and protruding tongue, typical to the dance. At the rear of the slide, just behind the cocking serrations is a gecko, seen in Polynesian culture as a divine creature.
Running along the top of the slide is a series of chevrons, leading to a diamond-studded factory front-staked sight. Two arrows frame the chevron bar, symbolizing the warrior, prosperity, and providing for the family.
As with the MANA, the engraving on the HAKA features 24K gold plating, for an eye-catching presentation. Likewise, further complimenting the gold engraving, the hardware also features 24K gold plating. The plated hardware includes the high polished magazine release, grip screws, barrel bushing, and spurred hammer.
“The Haka is a ceremonial dance in Māori culture and represents a display of a tribe’s pride, strength and unity,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Guns and SK Customs. “As we continue to release limited-edition firearms, we will continue to pay tribute to traditions and cultures from around the world.”
The SK Customs The HAKA 1911 is available for pre-order now, with an MSRP of $3,200.00. For more info, please visit SKArmsVA.com.
